Andrew Janicki
Andrew Janicki (1847-1907) was the Grandfather of my Dad Chet and his 3 siblings. He never left Poland, and I know next to nothing about him. However, years ago, my Aunt Steph sent me the below sheet that lists Andrew's parents, his wife, and their children - all aunts and uncles of my Dad. This one document has been the greatest help to me in researching and building the Janicki family tree.
Ellis Island
After reviewing this list from Aunt Steph, I wanted to learn more about when each sibling came to the United State thru Ellis Island. If I could find a record (i.e. online ship manifest), it should tell me more out when they came to the U.S, and who they lived with. I especially wanted to find out about any relatives they left behind in Poland; e.g., their name, relationship, and location.
According to this list, Andrew Janicki and Maria Sowinska had 10 children.
8 of the children came to the U.S. and stayed.
1 child (Antonia Janicka) came to the U.S. but went back to Poland
1 child (Maria Janicki Betlej) stayed in Poland
On the https://www.familysearch.org website, I did an on-line search of the New York Passenger Arrival Lists (Ellis Island), 1892-1924.
Of the 8 children who stayed in the U.S., I found records for 5:
Stella (Stanslawa) (Janicka) Lewandawska
Josephine (Jozefa) Granoska (Janicki)
Frances (Janickia) Kaczoroska
Michael Janicki
Kajetan (Joe) Janicki

Interesting facts - I found in looking at these ship manifests.
Stella
She arrived in 1909 on the same ship (Friedrich der Grosse) as her younger brother Kajetan (Joe).
Stella (age 25) was already married (her surname was Lewandowska). She came with a daughter, Dominika (age 3).
Her last residence was Polinisz (or Polonisz, which matches other Janicki records), Russia. (Note: historically part of Poland)
She left her father Andrzej Janicki who lived in Polinisz (sic), Russia. (Note: father's name matched above document from Aunt Steph
In the U.S., she joined her husband Frank Lewandowski, who lived at 3209 Wall St., Chicago. (Note: in 1910 U.S. Census, Frank & Stanislawa are listed as living at 3226 Wall St.)
Josephine
Josephine (age 24) arrived in 1904 and was already married. (Her surname on the manifest was Granowska). She came with a son, Woyciech (age 3). (Note: in later records his name was Albert).
Her last residence was Polinisz. (Note: same as on the ship manifest for her sister Stella).
She came to live with her husband St. Granowska (or Stanley Granoski) who lived in South Chicago, Buffalo Ave. 8348.
Both Josephine and her sister Stella came to the U.S. only after their husbands had previously arrived.
Frances
When Francis (age 19) arrived in 1906, she was still single. But that was soon to change. A few months later in June, she married Stanley Kaczorowski. (Note: The ship manifest erroneously listed him as her brother-in-law)
Her last residence was Kalisch (sic Kalisz.) (Note: This location done not match the last residences of her 2 sisters, Stella & Josephine, who came from Polonisz (see above). However, there is also a region called Kalisz in Poland, and by looking at a map of Poland, the town of Polonisz could have been located in that region.)
Michael
Michael (age 18) arrived in the U.S. in 1905.
His past residence was Polonisz (which is the same as for her 2 sisters, Stella & Josephine).
His passage here was paid by his brother-in-law, Stanley Granoski. (Note: in 1910 U.S. Census, Michael lived with Stanley and Josephine Granoski).
Kajetan (Joe)
He arrived in 1909 on the same ship (Friedrich der Grosse) as his older sister Stella.
His last residence was Polinisch, Russia. ( Note: this closely matches the name Polonisz, which was the last residence for some of this siblings.)
He left his father Andrzej Janicki who lived in Polinisch (sic), Russia. (Note: father's name matched above document from Aunt Steph
In the U.S., he joined his brother Michael, who lived at 3203 Wall Str. in Chicago, IL.
